Veterinarian 's Day is celebrated on September 9 in Brazil . The date was chosen in reference to the regulation of the profession in the country, which occurred on September 9, 1933, through Decree No. 23,133, which established veterinary medicine as a legally recognized profession. The celebration is a tribute to these professionals who dedicate themselves to animal health care, working in various areas, such as veterinary clinics, farms, laboratories, zoonosis control and also in the inspection sector of food of animal origin, ensuring quality and food safety for the population. The Day aims to highlight the importance of these professionals in promoting animal health, pet welfare and public health, in addition to recognizing their role in the development of livestock farming and environmental preservation.
